Filler Injections
A hyaluronic acid injection treatment that restores lost volume, softens folds and gently balances facial proportions, all in a natural way.
Filler explained
Filler is a soft gel similar to hyaluronic acid, a substance your skin naturally contains. The doctor injects it at the appropriate depth to restore volume, soften folds and refine facial contours. A session usually takes about 30 minutes. A numbing cream, or numbing medicine built into the filler, can be used to keep you comfortable. The areas and amount are chosen for your face at your consultation.

Results and recovery
Results
You can see a difference straight away. Once any swelling settles, over a few days to 2 weeks, the result becomes final. It is not permanent: depending on the area and the product, it typically lasts about 6 to 18 months. This varies between people, and results cannot be guaranteed.
Recovery and side effects
Swelling, redness and bruising are common for the first 2 to 3 days and can last up to a week in some people. Most people return to normal activities right away. For the first 24 to 48 hours, avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol and saunas, and do not press on the treated area.
Possible side effects
Most side effects are mild and settle within a few days.
- Swelling, redness, bruising and tenderness
- Lumps, uneven areas or asymmetry. Let the doctor know, as these can often be corrected.
- Rarely, infection or an allergic reaction.
- Very rarely, filler can block a blood vessel. Severe pain, pale or purple skin or any change in vision needs immediate contact with the clinic or emergency care.
Results vary from person to person.

Frequently asked questions
Does it hurt?
Numbing is used, so most people feel only mild discomfort. The area may feel tender to touch afterwards.
How long does it last?
Depending on the area and product, typically about 6 to 18 months. The doctor will give you an estimate for your treatment.
Will it look unnatural?
The doctor treats only what suits your proportions and aims for a natural result. You can start gradually, and add more later if you wish.
Can it be undone?
Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. If you ever need this, talk to the doctor.
Are there side effects?
Swelling, bruising and tenderness are common. Serious problems are very rare but possible. Contact us immediately if you have severe pain or skin colour changes.
