Mesofat Slimming explained

Mesofat Slimming is the injection of PPC (phosphatidylcholine) in small amounts into a targeted fat layer, the fat just under the skin, with a fine needle. The medicine is thought to break down fat cells so the body can clear them. It suits small areas such as under the chin (double chin). It is not a weight-loss treatment and is not suitable for people with large amounts of fat. A small number of sessions is usually needed.

Who it suits

01

Fullness under the chin (double chin)

02

Small fat pockets that do not shrink with diet and exercise

03

People who want to reshape one area without surgery

Please tell the doctor before treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an infection or skin disease in the area, have had difficulty swallowing, take blood thinners, have a bleeding disorder, or are allergic to soy or any ingredient. The chin, jaw and neck contain nerves and important structures, so the doctor chooses the depth and injection points carefully.

What to expect

1

Consultation

The doctor examines the fat pocket, asks about your health and medicines, and discusses whether treatment is suitable.

2

Marking

The area is cleansed and marked by the doctor. A numbing cream may be applied if needed.

3

PPC injection

PPC is injected in small amounts at the marked points into the targeted fat layer with a fine needle.

4

Aftercare

You receive advice on managing swelling and discomfort, the warning signs that need urgent contact, and when to return for the next session.

Results and recovery

Results

The fat pocket gradually becomes smaller, and changes are often noticed from a few weeks after treatment. The number of sessions and the gap between them is decided by the doctor according to the size of the fat pocket. Keeping your weight stable helps maintain the result. Results cannot be guaranteed.

Recovery and side effects

You can usually return to normal activities, but swelling in the treated area is quite common with this treatment and can last from a few days to a few weeks. Because swelling can temporarily change how your face or neck looks, avoid having treatment right before an important event. Please follow the doctor's aftercare advice.

Possible side effects

Side effects are common with this treatment and are usually temporary.

  • Swelling, pain, stinging, warmth and redness
  • Bruising and numbness around the treated area
  • Small lumps felt under the skin
  • Rare but serious risks: nerve injury causing a crooked smile or uneven mouth (when the chin area is treated), difficulty swallowing, skin damage, infection and allergic reaction. If you have trouble swallowing, severe pain, skin turning dark, or fever, go to a hospital straight away. If you have difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or a severe widespread rash, go to a hospital straight away.

Results vary from person to person.

Frequently asked questions

PPC (phosphatidylcholine) is a fat-type substance found naturally in cell membranes. When injected into the fat layer it is thought to break down fat cells. How well it works varies from person to person.

No. It is meant for stubborn fat in small areas. If you want to lose weight, you can talk to the doctor about our Weight Loss programme.

You may feel pain, stinging or warmth while the medicine is injected. The doctor can use numbing methods if needed.

Swelling can last from a few days to a few weeks and differs from person to person.

It depends on the size of the fat pocket. A few sessions, spaced a few weeks apart, is common. The doctor will plan this for you.

Fat cells in the treated area are reduced, but if you gain weight, the remaining fat cells can store fat again. A healthy diet and exercise are important.
