Weight Loss Programme
A doctor-supervised programme with a plan built around you, including L-Carnitine IV infusion, to support healthy, sustainable weight reduction.
Weight Loss programme explained
The Weight Loss programme is supervised by a doctor and uses a personal plan to support healthy, sustainable weight reduction. Before you start, the doctor asks about your health, weight and height, eating habits, activity level and any medicines you take. The programme includes advice on food and activity, L-Carnitine IV infusion (given into a vein), and regular reviews of your progress. L-Carnitine is a substance the body makes naturally. It helps carry fatty acids into the energy-producing part of the cell (the mitochondria) so they can be used as energy. However, research shows that L-Carnitine on its own leads to only a small amount of weight loss, and it works best together with a healthy diet and regular activity.

Results and recovery
Results
How much weight you lose, and how fast, varies greatly from person to person. For lasting results it is important to change and keep up your eating and activity habits. A specific amount of weight loss cannot be guaranteed.
Recovery and side effects
There is no recovery time for this programme and you can carry on with normal daily life. There may be slight redness or bruising where the needle was placed. Your plan may change how you eat and how you move. If you feel weak or dizzy while losing weight, please tell the doctor.
Possible side effects
Side effects depend on what is included in your plan. The doctor will explain those that apply to you.
- Nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps or diarrhoea
- Headache, dizziness, difficulty sleeping, restlessness, or sometimes a fishy body odour
- Pain, redness, bruising or vein inflammation where the needle was placed
- Hunger, tiredness, or dehydration if weight falls too quickly
- Rare but serious risks: severe allergic reaction, infection, and more seizures in people who already have a seizure disorder. If you have severe dizziness, chest pain, an irregular heartbeat, severe vomiting, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or a severe itchy rash, go to a hospital straight away.
Results vary from person to person.

Frequently asked questions
How does L-Carnitine help with weight loss?
L-Carnitine helps carry fatty acids into the energy-producing part of the cell so they can be used as energy. However, research shows only a small effect on weight on its own, and it works best together with diet and activity.
How many kilos will I lose each month?
It differs from person to person, so we cannot say exactly. Together with the doctor you set a realistic goal at a healthy pace.
Is the infusion enough on its own?
No. Changing your eating and daily activity habits is an important part of the programme.
Can the weight come back?
If eating and activity habits are not kept up after the programme, weight can return. Long-term maintenance is part of the discussion.
Do I need regular check-ups?
Yes. Your progress and health are reviewed regularly and the plan is adjusted as needed.
Who should tell the doctor first?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have diabetes, heart, thyroid, liver or kidney disease, a seizure disorder, take blood thinners or regular medicines, or have had an eating disorder, please talk to the doctor first.
