Facial Thread Lifting
A non-surgical treatment that uses absorbable threads to lift mild to moderate sagging of the face.
Thread Lifting explained
Thread Lifting places absorbable threads under the skin using a fine needle or cannula. The threads give an immediate gentle lift, then gradually dissolve in the body while encouraging the skin to produce collagen. A session usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes and is done with local anaesthetic. The doctor decides the number of threads and where to place them.

Who it suits
01
Mild sagging of the cheeks or jawline
02
Skin that has begun to lose firmness
03
Those who want a lift without surgery
If sagging is more advanced, results may be limited and another treatment may suit you better. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an infection or skin condition in the area, have a bleeding problem or take blood thinners, tend to form raised scars (keloids) or have an autoimmune condition, please tell the doctor first.

Results and recovery
Results
You may notice a mild lift straight away, but the full result appears once swelling settles and the threads bed in. As collagen builds, the result can continue to improve for about 1 to 3 months. Results typically last around a year, depending on the threads used and the individual. Results cannot be guaranteed.
Recovery and side effects
Swelling, bruising, tightness and soreness are common for the first few days up to a week. Most people return to work within a few days. Sleep on your back, avoid opening your mouth very wide, and avoid facial massage and strenuous exercise for about 2 weeks.
Possible side effects
Most side effects are temporary and settle within days to a few weeks.
- Swelling, bruising, soreness and a feeling of tightness
- Dimpling or puckering, or slight asymmetry. These often settle, but tell the doctor.
- Threads that can be felt or seen
- Rarely, infection, a thread coming through the skin, nerve irritation or a blood collection (haematoma). If you have a fever, spreading redness, pus or severe pain, contact the clinic immediately.
Results vary from person to person.

Frequently asked questions
Does it hurt?
Local anaesthetic is used, so most people feel only mild discomfort during treatment. Some soreness and tightness for a few days afterwards is common.
How long does it last?
Typically around a year, depending on the threads and the individual. The threads gradually dissolve over time.
How is it different from a surgical facelift?
Thread Lifting involves no surgery, so recovery is shorter. However, the effect is more modest and temporary than a surgical facelift.
Will my face look unnatural or restrict my smile?
The threads are placed to keep a natural look. You may feel some tightness for a few days, which usually eases. Tell the doctor if you are concerned.
Who should not have it?
It may not suit people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection, have a bleeding problem or tend to form keloid scars. The doctor will check at your consultation.
